For fanatical fans of everything Harry Potter, including celeb fans like bob mortimer, the wait is over, as the young magician and his friends get set for a final showdown with Lord Voldemort in the last film of the current series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II.
The film was out on release on July 15th and has packed out cinemas across the UK, with audiences preparing to watch with baited breath as the second half of JK Rowling’s final instalment is unveiled.
Harry, Ron and Hermione are seeking out the Horcruxes in a bid to destroy Voldemort and stop his reign of terror before it is too late.
What has made these films so challenging for director David Yates is that 99% of the audience who turn out to see these movies will already know the story back to front, inside and out, from the position of every cobweb to the detail of every wand.
Trying to appease the hunger of every avid fan to make the film as accurate as possible to Rowling’s books, whilst still making it a movie that works on screen, is a challenging prospect.
The last few films of the Potter series have been far darker than their humble beginnings, when the likes of Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson were still in diapers.
Deathly Hallows-Part II continues that dark theme, which suits the context of the plot as it’s do or die for Harry and his friends in the battle against Voldemort.
Radcliffe has grown in his acting skills as Harry has grown throughout the books and the 21-year-old produces another impressive performance in this latest offering.
Whatever reviews come out, fans of the books will clamour to see this film, and on this occasion they won’t be disappointed.
