May be newest picture of famous polish film director Andrzej Wajda ‘Katy?’ will be the candidate for next Oscar Award. A press preview has been held in Warsaw of a new feature by Poland’s most renowned director Andrzej Wajda. Entitled ‘Katy?’, it focuses on the massacre of over 22 thousand Polish army officers by Stalin’s NKVD police in 1940.

Moscow blamed the Germans for the murder and it was not until 1990 that the Soviet Union admitted its responsibility. Addressing a press conference, Wajda stressed that the film wouldn’t have seen the light of day during the communist period. He said he hoped his film will be followed by more on the same toipic. The film will be premiered on September 17, the 68th anniversary of the Soviet aggression against Poland in 1939.
